Bosch's Samsung joint venture will supply Delphi with lithium-ion batteries


According to Reuters, SB LiMotive Ltd., an electric vehicle battery joint venture between German Bosch GmbH and Samsung SDI Co. of South Korea, recently stated that the company will supply lithium-ion batteries to Delphi.

In a statement, Samsung SDI stated that SB LiMotive will supply lithium-ion batteries to Delphi from 2012 onwards. This is only part of the 10-year cooperation agreement between SB LiMotive and Delphi.

Samsung SDI also stated that lithium batteries supplied by SB LiMotive will be used by Delphi in battery packs and propulsion systems, and for hybrid commercial vehicle products.

However, Samsung SDI did not disclose any other details related to the supply contract.

In addition to Delphi, SB LiMotive recently received a lithium battery supply contract from Cobasys, a supplier of nickel-metal hydride batteries for vehicles in the US, and BMW.
