In the past year, the device has accumulated 305 tons of sodium sulfite, 292 tons of sodium hypochlorite, 578 tons of cesium chloride, 42,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity, saving more than 3.8 million yuan in operating costs, and reducing the external discharge of salt sludge by more than 650 tons (dry basis).

Wang Songbo, deputy chief engineer and head of technology research and development of Haohua Aerospace, said that the technology is still the first in the domestic chlor-alkali industry, which not only simplifies the production process, but also reduces the types and amount of additives, and the amount of salt sludge discharged, and also increases production. The stability of the system index control, at the same time, can save project investment for the new system. The annual output of 200,000 tons of ion-exchange membrane caustic soda equipment can save 1 million yuan in engineering investment. Calculated according to the company's 540,000 tons of equipment, the application of the technology can save annual consumption of sodium sulfite, sodium hypochlorite, cesium chloride, electricity and other material consumption, energy consumption of 8.5 million yuan, reducing salt emissions 1600 tons (dry basis) above.

It is understood that the company's first annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of ion-exchange membrane caustic soda production equipment uses Japan's Asahi Kasei natural circulation bipolar ion membrane electrolyzer and its complete production process. The process is complex, additives are added, power consumption is high, and salt sludge is high in emissions, which wastes raw materials, power and energy, and pollutes the environment. For this purpose, the company's technical personnel will dechlorinate the dilute brine from the electrolytic cell through the dechlorination tower, and then control the dilute brine to contain the required amount of free chlorine, send it to the brine purification process, and use the free chlorine in the dilute brine to remove the coarse brine. The organic matter and bacteria algae thus eliminated the dechlorination system of the sodium sulfite device and the brine system plus the sodium hypochlorite device.

Specifically, they modified the equipment, pipelines, valves, and automatic detection devices for ion-exchange membrane electrolysis and demineralization of dilute brine, adjusted the process operation method and technological indicators, and retained the required amount of brine in the return brine purification system. The free chlorine meets the requirements for ion membrane electrolysis production and the requirements for primary brine production, and ensures the stable operation of the production system. At the same time, the content of free chlorine in the salt water is reasonably adjusted to keep the free chlorine contained in the crude salt water within the specified range, so as to remove organic matters and bacteria and algae in the salt water.

It is reported that the company has applied the technology to 100,000 tons, 200,000 tons, and 240,000 tons of ion-exchange membrane caustic soda devices. This project has obtained the invention patent authorization, and won the second prize of technological invention of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation in October 2011.
