Shanxi into the national fuel methanol production base

Three years ago, the relevant national authorities listed methanol fuel as a national alternative energy development plan, and recommended testing and promotion in Shanxi Province.

According to statistics, in 2003 and 2004, Shanxi consumed methanol gasoline was more than 10,000 tons. Today, the goal of Shanxi Province is to build a national fuel methanol production base and strive to form an annual production capacity of 10 million tons of methanol fuel around 2010.

It is understood that China's research on methanol fuel started in the early 1970s. During the "6th Five-Year Plan" period, the State Science and Technology Commission and the Ministry of Communications and Shanxi Province jointly organized a research experiment on M15-M25 methanol fuel in Shanxi Province. 480 trucks participated in the test and demonstration work.

With the maturation of the methanol fuel demonstration program in China and the implementation of the promotion work, the consumption of methanol fuel will increase significantly in the future. It is estimated that by 2008, the total consumption demand of methanol fuel for methanol will exceed 2 million tons, making the proportion of methanol fuel in the total consumption of methanol exceed 30%.
