MODEC will test floating hybrid power system

Japan's Mitsui Marine Development and Engineering Corporation (MODEC) announced on May 16 that it will carry out its newly developed floating current and wind hybrid power generation system, Savonius Keel Wind-Turbine Darrieus (SKWID), in the Japanese waters this summer. Sea test show. MODEC officials said "we hope to contribute to Japan's efforts to reduce power generation costs."
The new system SKWID will be equipped with a vertical Darrieus-type wind turbine at the top of the floating structure (purchased from the product library), and a Savonius generator will be installed underwater to generate electricity through tidal and wind power without the need for existing floating The external power supply required for power generation is easy to maintain.
MODEC plans to install the system to the coast of Japan this summer, and test it in the fall. After improvement, it is expected to supply electricity to the shore in about one year.
